Jr. Canadians Set to Host Alexandria

The Carleton Place Canadians tier 2 hockey team is riding a 3 game winning streak heading into tonight’s game against the Alexandria Glens. The Jr. Canadians are coming off a 2-1 win over the Whitewater Kings on Thursday.

Kings goaltender Kevin Proulx was in line for nearly a 50 save shutout, but the Canadians were able to score two goals in the last 5 minutes to come away with the victory.

Ryland Mosley tied the game with 4:38 left in the 3rd period. Then, with 55 seconds left, it was Spencer Marshall netting his 3rd game winning goal of the season. It marked the second straight game the Canadians overcame a 3rd period deficit.

Jacob Lavergne made 20 saves in net to improve his record to 14-5-1.

The three team battle for top spot in the Richardson Division continues Saturday with all three teams in action. Carleton Place currently sit first with 55 points, Westport are second with 53, followed by Athens in third with 51. All three teams have 13 games remaining.

Game time in Carleton Place is scheduled for 8pm. Alexandria (21-13-2) and the Canadians have split their first two meetings of the season. Carleton Place won 3-1 at home back on September 23. The Glens took the game in Alexandria 5-2 on October 29.
