Broughman is a 20-year-old rookie to Canadian Jr. A hockey in his first season with Carleton Place.
Before heading north of the border, Broughman played in his hometown for the Richmond Generals of the U.S. Premier Hockey League, where he said he was well prepared for the transition to junior hockey.
“My coach was tough, just like (Jason) Clarke is, and he skated us pretty hard,” he said.
Broughman produced well offensively in his final season in Richmond as he had 36 points in 30 games in the 2016-17 season. According to EliteProspects, the prior season for Broughman was the 2013-14 season where he had nine goals and nine assists, 18 points, in 21 games that season.
On the ice, Broughman said he plays a simple style of hockey, and it’s a style that can translate to any level. He has proven that this season as he has 20 goals and 23 assists in 45 games.
“I like to hit, I can skate, use my hands every now and then but simple hockey is my game,” he said.
