The Carleton Place Canadians Under-18 AAA team wrapped up their showcase weekend at the Bell Sensplex on Sunday, and they haven’t had the success their Jr. A parent team has had with their third loss – a 2-1 defeat to the Smiths Falls Bears U18.

Carleton Place went 0-for-7 with the man advantage, including a five-minute major power play, and the special teams’ struggles ended up costing them in the one-goal loss.

Anthony Ieradi opened the scoring 2:15 into the second period before his boarding major penalty forced him out of the game.

The Canadians couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity to tie the game, but Connor Nicoll was able to tie the game later in the second period.

The tied score didn’t last long into the third period as Keegam Johnston gave the Bears the lead 0:54 into the final frame.

For a third straight game, Carleton Place outshot its opponent – 26-19 on Sunday – but the Canadians were unable to beat Brody Bernard more than once in the game. Colby Drummond made the start in goal for Carleton Place and he saved 17 of 19 shots he faced.
