Jr. Canadians Shutout Brockville

The Carleton Place Jr. Canadians and Brockville Tikis stood together in a circle at centre ice prior to their game on Saturday night. The teams were joined in a moment of silence for two Renfrew Timberwolves players who lost their lives this week, Brandon Hanniman and Alex Paquette.

Carleton Place went on to win the game 2-0. Trent Harris had the opening goal 6:13 into the 1st period. Ryland Mosley added a goal in the 2nd period.

Eastan Eckert assisted on the Harris goal. Andrew Vanderklei assisted on both goals.

The Canadians killed off 7 Brockville powerplays.

CPC out shot Brockville 38-18. Picking up his 4th win of the season and 2nd shutout of the year was Vincent Bujold-Roux.

“I felt pretty confident,” said Bujold-Roux after the game. “Our defenseman played really well in front of me and made my job easier and I am really happy with the result.”

The Canadians sit one point out of first place in the Richardson Division behind Westport. Saturday opened a stretch of 10 games where they play 9 teams below .500. They are now 8-1 this season against teams with below .500 records.

“We can’t take any team lightly,” Bujold-Roux added. “We have to make sure we keep working hard and be ready for every game.”

The Canadians are in Alexandria on Sunday to take on the Glens (6-7-2). The game is scheduled to start at 2:30pm.

The next home game for Carleton Place is Saturday November 4th against Renfrew.
