Tier 2 Canadians Win Fifth Straight

The Carleton Place Canadians Tier 2 hockey team defeated the Arnprior Packers 3-1 on Wednesday night. The win gave the Canadians their 5th straight victory heading into the weekend.

The first goal of the game did not come until 2:49 into the 2nd period when Andrew McAtamney scored for the Packers.

The Arnprior lead was short lived as Carleton Place answered with three goals in less than 5 minutes. Ryland Mosley tied the game, Spencer Marshall scored on the powerplay, and Reece Bolton added a breakaway goal.

Jacob Lavergne made 26 saves and improved his record to 15-5-1.

Heading into a home-and-home with the Westport Rideaus Friday and Saturday, the Canadians sit 1st place in the Richardson Division four points ahead of both Westport and Athens.

“During our four game losing streak we had some of our guys playing with the Jr A team and a lot of guys were sick,” said Head Coach John Ollson. “But were back on a win streak now and were in a good position.”

Ollson also responded to the importance of finishing in first place; “It would be huge to get home ice advantage, Westport and Athens play really well at home too. We have two games this weekend against Westport so we will see where we stand. I hope we show up and play well and I think we will.”

The Canadians will travel to Westport on Friday before hosting the Rideaus on Saturday night.
