Renfrew Force Game 6

The Renfrew Timberwolves overcame three deficits to force a game 6 in their quarter-final series with the Carleton Place Jr Canadians. Bailey Hein scored 5:45 in to the 2nd Overtime period to give the Timberwolves a 4-3 win.

Facing elimination, the Timberwolves never led in the game until Hein’s OT winner. An Eastan Eckert powerplay goal put the Canadians up 1-0 early in the first. Connor Noonan responded for Renfrew tucking a loose puck from behind the net off Vincent-Bujold Roux’s skate and in to the net.

In the second, Alex Vala took a pass through the crease from Spencer Marshall and beat Dane Brumm to convert on a 5-on-3. Vala has scored in all 5 games in the series for a total of 6 goals.

Before the second intermission Renfrew scored on a 5-on-3 of their own. Luka Marinic lined up a slap shot and scored for his 3rd straight game to tie the game at 2 after 40 minutes.

The Canadians scored yet another powerplay goal in the 3rd, finishing 3 for 7 in the game. Martin Templeton took a pass from Eastan Eckert and one-timed a slap shot to the top corner of the net to restore the Canadians lead with 13:54 left in regulation.

Bailey Hein tied the game up less than two minutes later. He came in to the offensive zone on a 2-on-1, elected to shoot and tied the game up. In double OT, Hein drew a high stick while skating through the neutral zone which set up his game winner on the powerplay.

Hein is a 20 year old from Eganville. The Timberwolves acquired him from the Arnprior Packers on November 28. He leads the team in playoff scoring with 5 goals and 5 assists.

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday night at 8pm in Renfrew.
