Allison, the 18-year-old forward, is a rookie in the CCHL and is playing his first season of junior hockey.

Prior to heading west – for him – Allison spent two seasons playing for the Halifax McDonald’s major midget team. In a combined 76 regular season games, he totaled 25 goals and 43 assists for 68 points.

“(Playing there) prepared me really well, we had long seasons so it’s not too big of a jump to play here with a 62-game schedule,” he said. “It’s a pretty good league, a lot of the (other) guys go play major junior. This is a different route, for sure, playing out of Ontario.”

Playing in Nova Scotia, Allison grew up playing in older age groups throughout – playing in the older groups in bantam and all three of his midget seasons – and he improved offensively as he caught up in age with those he was playing against.

That’s a good thing for Carleton Place as he is already producing well in his first season – 34 points in 48 games – and is eligible to play with the Canadians for another two seasons, leaving plenty of time for the offence to continue to develop.

In game, Allison describes himself as a “skilled forward who likes to pass the puck, but can score when I have to.”
