Tupker is in his second season with the Carleton Place Canadians after coming to the CCHL last year.

Before coming to Carleton Place, he honed his skills with the North Central Predators Midget AAA team.

“We practiced five days a week there and it was pretty high tempo with a couple of older guys as well,” Tupker said. “That prepared me for the schedule that we have here, so I felt that program did a good job of getting me ready for here.”

Along with the practice schedule, the Predators had a game-heavy schedule as well in 2015-16. That season, Tupker played in 65 games and produced 23 goals and 36 assists.

Last year, he spent some time in CCHL2 as well as the CCHL. Tupker played 13 games with the Athens Aeros and had 11 points – four goals, seven assists – while entering the line-up for 32 games with the Canadians, where he had four goals and one assist.

“Last year was my rookie season, I thought it was a good learning experience from all the older guys and just getting into the whole lifestyle of junior hockey where everything revolves around hockey. I think this year I’m ready to go and last year was a good learning experience that will definitely help me this year.”

So far, this season, Tupker has seven goals and nine assists in 35 games played. He and his twin brother Zach were able to turn their strong play with the Canadians into a scholarship to Cornell University for the 2019-20 season.

When Tupker is on the ice, he says fans can expect to see a forward with a strong defensive presence to go along with his offensive production.

“I think I’m a 200-foot player, for sure, who’s pretty strong defensively and can help out on the PK as well. I also have an offensive upside, so I’m looking to help out offensively as well as play just a solid 200-foot game as a good playmaker.”
