Jr Canadians Even the Series

The Carleton Place Canadians Tier 2 hockey team won Game 2 of their quarter-final series with Renfrew to tie the series at 1-1. After conceding the opening the goal, Carleton Place scored 5 unanswered to come away from Ma-te-Way with a 5-1 victory.

The Canadians scored on their second powerplay of the game midway through the first period. A cross ice pass from Eastan Eckert to Reece Bolton was sent back toward the slot and Ryland Mosley snapped a wrist shot that was tipped in by Cameron Patton. The teams were locked at 1-1 heading to the 1st intermission.

In the 2nd the Canadians used their speed to score a couple of goals. Mosley went around a Renfrew defender and took the puck below the goal line before finding Patton in front of the net who beat Brumm blocker side to give Carleton Place their first lead of the series. Less than a minute later Alex Vala won possession of a lose puck and got behind the Timberwolves defense. He cut right into the crease and scored his second of the series.

Bolton scored his second of the playoffs as well before the 2nd period ended. He came in across the line and sent a perfect shot off the cross bar and into the net.

Mosley added a powerplay goal in the 3rd. Mosley, Bolton and Patton have combined for 7 goals in the first two games.

Vincent Bujold-Roux made 20 saves in net.

“If you take away the first period of Game 1 I think we have played pretty well,” said Canadians GM Gary McGee. “But you can’t erase periods, the series is tied at 1 and we have work to do.”

Game 3 goes Friday night in Carleton Place with a scheduled start time of 7:45pm.
