Char-Lan Snap Jr. Canadians Win Streak

Tuesday night marked exactly one month since the Carleton Place Canadians Tier 2 hockey club had lost a game. Their nine game win streak was snapped by the Char-Lan Rebels who won the final meeting of the season by a score of 5-2. CPC won the season series 2-1.

Brayden Campeau scored 59 seconds into the game. A Ryland Mosley powerplay goal at 7:04 of the opening period gave the Canadians a 2-1 lead. Mosley leads the league in scoring with 53 points.

Sam Ferland scored his first of two goals in the game on a Rebels powerplay with 6:02 remaining in the first period to tie the game, 2-2.

Mathieu Sabourin and Brennan Markell added goals for the Rebels before Ferland’s empty netter sealed the game.

Grant Craig made 31 in saves in net for Char-Lan. Carleton Place goalie Jacob Lavergne made 20 saves.

19 games remain on the regular season schedule and the Canadians are 8 points clear of Athens for the division lead. The Aeros have played four less games.

The Canadians are on the road for two huge games this weekend. They travel to Westport Friday to take on the 3rd place Rideaus (18-9-3) for the first time this year. That game is followed by a match up in Athens with the Aeros (20-8-1) on Sunday night.

The Canadians have a break in their schedule from Sunday until January 6th when they host the Renfrew Timberwolves.
