Casselman Win Low Scoring Affair

Two first period goals were enough for the Casselman Vikings to defeat the Carleton Place Canadians in CCHL2 action on Thursday night. It was the final regular season meeting for the two first place clubs, with the win Casselman won the season series 2-1.

Jason Cossette and Jonathan Yaremko gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.

The Canadians captain Eastan Eckert scored on the powerplay with 6 minutes left in the 2nd period, but no other scoring would occur in the game.

The Canadians have not been shutout this season and it was only the second time they have been held to a single goal. The Vikings average 4.98 goals per game, which is the best in the league.

Goaltender Vincent Bujold-Roux made 26 saves for Carleton Place. Casselman keeper Nicholas Campbell made 22 saves to earn the win.

Carleton Place are at home their next 2 games. Saturday night they host the Ottawa Canadians (27-13-3) before a meeting with Athens (27-12-3) on Tuesday.
