Canadians support U18 member with “Pedal for Patchell”

The Carleton Place Canadians are starting an initiative to help a member of the organization in their time of need.

James Patchell, a member of the U18 team, was given a diagnosis of Hodgkin Lymphoma (NSCHL) stage 2b/bulky on June 18. Assuming all goes to plan, chemotherapy will be 1 week on, 3 weeks recovery, for 6 months followed by 1 month of radiation, according to a GoFundMe page set up in support of the Patchell family.

Canadians players and staff – across all three teams – are assisting the fundraising that is already doing well. The funds raised will be used for anything from parking passes, gas, meals, medications, care and anything else that the Patchell’s may incur.

As certain thresholds are reached, some of Patchell’s U18 teammates and other players throughout the Canadians family will be shaving their head in support of Patchell.

To wrap up the campaign, Canadians owner Brent Sullivan will be taking part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer on August 28 and has committed to cycling 200km in support of Patchell.
