Canadians pick up Second Straight Win

The Carleton Place Canadians Tier 2 hockey club picked up their second straight win on Saturday night. They defeated the Alexandria Glens 3-1 to move to 5-3, and the Canadians sit at the top of the Richardson Division with 10 points. With the victory the Canadians also remain undefeated at home, now 4-0.

Ryland Mosley and Oliver Carrier scored first period goals. Reece Bolton scored his league leading 7th goal of the year in the second period.

Alexandre Elie brought the Glens back to within 2 goals with 5:15 left in the 2nd period. After that the visitors spent 12 minutes on the powerplay, but were unable to score anymore goals. Alexandria were 0 for 9 on the powerplay in the game.

“I thought our penalty killing unit was excellent tonight, they had us in the box the whole game, so hats off to my guys,” said Head Coach John Ollson after the game.

Vincent Bujold-Roux picked up his 1st win of the season in net for the Canadians, making 30 saves.

Up next for Carleton Place are the undefeated (5-0) Ottawa Canadians. Ottawa are first in the league in Goals Per Game (5.2) and Powerplay scoring (35.7%).

“I look forward to going and playing them,” said Ollson. “That was the team I played with for 6 games before I got called up to the 67’s.”

The Canadians Head Coach accumulated 212 points over 3 seasons in the OHL, including 122 points in the 1982-83 season.

The game today is scheduled for a 7:20pm start at the Earl Armstrong Arena.
