Canadians Fall to Embrun

It was a battle of two new teams to the CCHL2, and two of the top lines in the league. At the end of the night on Saturday, the final score read 4-2 for the visiting Embrun Panthers, giving them their 2nd victory over the Tier 2 Canadians this season.

Andrew Burke and Jeremy Barrie had 1st period goals that gave Embrun a 2-0 lead at the intermission. Panthers starting goaltender Jean-Pascal Sabourin made 15 first period saves.

Ryland Mosley scored off a rebound from Reece Bolton’s shot 3:07 into the 2nd period to put the Canadians on the board. Marc Brosseau responded for the visitors with a powerplay goal, restoring their two goal lead.

Bolton came in across the line early in the 3rd and it was Cameron Patton finding the rebound this time, making it a one goal game once again.

The single goal deficit was short lived. Just over a minute after Patton scored, Burke recorded his second of the night on a nice move to his backhand with 15:21 left in the 3rd.

Burke and Bolton are now tied for the league lead with 26 points.

Pascal-Sabourin made 35 saves for the Panthers and moved to 4-1 on the season. Jacob Lavergne made 30 saves in his first loss of the season, his record is now 8-1. It was also the first loss of the year at home for CPC, now 6-1.

Carleton Place were 0 for 5 on the powerplay, while Embrun were 1 for 5.

These two teams will meet once more in the regular season when the Panthers come back to Carleton Place on November 25.

The Canadians play twice next weekend. They travel to Richmond (3-6-3) on Friday night and return home Saturday to take on Ottawa West (6-3-2).
