For the second time in the week, the Carleton Place Canadians faced off with the Kanata Lasers and they came away with a large win once again, this time a 6-2 win on the road on Saturday.

The two teams played each other in Carleton Place on Sunday where the Canadians won 7-2 with all four lines finding the back of the net that game. The balanced attack was a feature again on Saturday as five different Canadians scored in Saturday’s victory.

Carleton Place jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Ben Tupker and Sam Knoblauch as part of the 13 shots Logan Bateman faced in the Kanata net. Jeremie Forget stopped the four shots Kanata sent his way.

The second period was about as even as a period could be. Both teams had 12 shots each in the frame and both scored two goals.

Connor Sleeth trimmed the Canadians lead to 2-1 with his goal 7:35 into the second period. Peyton Francis responded with his first of two goals in the game before William Brochu made it a one-goal game again just 0:43 after Francis’s goal. Before the end of the period, Zach Tupker made it a two-goal Carleton Place lead with a short-handed goal.

The third period was similar to the first as Carleton Place outshot Kanata 14-5 and added another two goals. Francis scored his second goal of the game and then Sam Allison capped of the scoring midway through the final period. On the goal, Shawn Kennedy picked up his first assist since returning to the Canadians.

Saturday’s game was played in Renfrew at the Ma-te-way Centre as one of the six home games the Kanata Lasers are playing there.

Carleton Place is back in action on Sunday when they host the Rockland Nationals at 3 p.m.
