Canadians Prepare for Second Season – Off the ice
Posted June 3, 2010
Just because the ice is out of the Community Centre doesn’t mean that things have shut down for the summer. Not by a long “slap” shot. While Jason Clarke and his crew are hard at work preparing for the upcoming second season in the newly named Central Junior Hockey League, work has been underway on several fronts off the ice as well. The team will be initiating a Season Ticket Drive. With a promising team that will undoubtedly be even more competitive in year two, the team is hoping to increase the season ticket base in hopes to fill the rink night after night. The team is making it as easy as possible for fans to purchase season tickets by spreading the payments over a period of time leading up to opening night. There are plenty of incentives to purchase season tickets including priority reserved seating, free admission to all exhibition games, priority playoff tickets, and best of all, a 22% savings versus adult game day ticket prices. Stop by and visit us at any of the following events or visit the website to get more information.
Canadians at Canada Day
July 1st at Riverside Park is the place to be in Carleton Place every year. This year there will be Canadians at Canada Day. Plans are in the works to have a booth set up to display some of the fan gear that is available for purchase as well as photos, videos, and season ticket sales. Also on Canada Day, Bruce the Moose will be on hand to entertain the kids, some of the players will be also on hand to help out with a shooting competition and the “lobby girls” will be doing what they normally do, selling 50/50 tickets with the total proceeds being directed towards the Carleton Place Fireworks Display fund.
Bridge St Bazaar
Only a few weeks later, during the Civic Holiday weekend in August, the Canadians bus and trailer will be visible along the Bridge St Bazaar. Stop by and check out the Canadians fan gear and meet some of the players in what has become one of the more popular downtown summer events.
1st Annual Golf Tournament
August 28th is the date for the Canadians first annual golf tournament being held at the Scottish Glen Golf Course located on Scotch Corners Rd. Tee Off time is 11:00 am and is an 18 hole best ball format. Cost is $75.00 per player which includes dinner. Space is limited to 72 golfers. Contact Ian McNeely at imcneely@Rogers.com or phone 613-229-4899. Lots of prizes, giveaways and loads of fun!!!
2010 Home Opener
The Community Centre will be the site of the 2010 Home Opener Family Tail Gate party on Saturday September 18th. After last year’s successful kick off to the season, plans are underway to make it even better. There will be music, games for the kids, food, special guests and player introductions. Then come on inside as your Canadians will once again play host to the Smiths Falls Bears to begin their second season of play.
