Canadians drop second Showcase game to powerhouse Casselman

The 4-time defending champion Casselman Vikings took down the Carleton Place Canadians on Sunday night.  The game was part of the CCHL2 showcase played at the Richcraft Sensplex.  Both teams were coming off victories on Saturday.

Casselman scored 3 goals in the first period and out shot the Canadians 16-8.

Reece Bolton scored on the Canadians 3rd powerplay of the game with 2:35 to go in the 2nd.  The Vikings led 3-1 heading into the final period.

The Vikings took a 3 goal lead before Bolton scored his second of the night with 15:51 to go.   Ryan Sabourin restored Casselman’s 3 goal lead, and the Vikings went on to win 7-2.

Casselman out shot Carleton Place 48-23 and 17-3 in the 3rd period. Vincent Bujold-Roux made 41 saves in net for the Canadians.

The Canadians play their home opener Tuesday night against the Athens Aeros.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30.
